Comments:
As the primary songwriter and musician for this album, I'm still amazed that people find me after all these years to tell me that this collection of songs means something special to them. The songs on this record were written between 1986 and 1988. Most of the works reflect the soul searching and introspection that ensued after the death of my older brother, Timothy, in 1985.
In concert with the development of awareness that a tragedy can bring, I also found myself coming into my own as a song writer and arranger with the help of our manager and demo producer, Ritchie Gold. I'm proud of the album and think the songs hold up even today, as they are not statements of "fad attitude", but rather honest commentaries on the experiences people have as they go through the kinds of spiritual growing pains brought on by unexpected losses.
We didn't have the resources at the time to explore greater instrumental range on the album, but producer Bill Drescher helped us to use what we had, primarily three voices in harmony, to express the heart and soul of the project.
Despite a lack of promotional support, people still managed to find the record and fall in love with it. It's not likely that these recordings will be made available for sale again as downloads, but stranger things have happened.
